You wrap your arm around Ellie’s waist, holding her up as she sobs.

You’re standing in the cemetary, watching as Delilah’s coffin is lowered into the hole in the ground.

Ellie turns around in your arms, burrying her face in your chest, unable to watch the scene in front of her.

You hold her tight, letting her cry as you rub her back softly.

Soon the funeral is over, and you’re driving Ellie back to your apartment.

She has not spoken a word since the funeral finished. You rest a hand on her knee gently, making her look at you.

“Are you hungry? Do you want me to stop somewhere for food?” you ask gently.

She shakes her head, mumbling “No I’m alright baby. Just take me back to your place, please?”

You nod “Of course”

Time skip

Ellie is laying on the couch with you, her face hidden in your neck.

You turned on the tv as a distraction, but all you can think about is your girlfriend sniffling in your arms.

You kiss her temple softly, massaging her scalp to try and bring her some comfort.

She lifts her head after a while, looking at you with an unreadable expression.

You caress her cheek softly “Is something wrong darling?”

She sighs, leaning into your touch “I don’t think I can be here anymore” she says quietly.

You frown, sitting up slightly and looking at her confused “What do you mean?”

“I want to get out of here, maybe go to Miami”

You sit up fully now, giving her a sad look “You want to leave me here?”

She shakes her head quickly “No I… I was hoping you would come with me, but I can’t let you do that. You have plans for the future, and your family is here. I have nothing left” you hear her sniffle again, looking down.

“Of course I have plans in the future, but all of them include you.” you take her hands in yours, squeezing softly.

She looks at you teary eyed. You lean forward and kiss her forehead.

“Wherever you’re going, I’m going too. I’m not letting you push me away Ellie. Especially not now. ” you say firmly.

She wipes her tears, moving to give you a hug. You wrap your arms around her, your heart breaking over the muffled ‘thank you’ you hear her say.

“You don’t have to thank me for anything. I love you ok? So just let me take care of you” you whisper.

She nods, pulling back slowly with a smile. Taking your hand in hers, she caress it softly.

“You know, Delilah was right. You’re a keeper”

You laugh softly, kissing her cheek “I didn’t know she said that.” Ellie chuckles, nodding.

“So you’re sure about this? You’ll come to Miami with me?” Ellie asks, unsure.

You nod, leaning forward to kiss her softly. As cheesy as it may sound, you would follow her to the moon and back. Without a question.
